I read the USA trilogy several years ago. Couldn't put it down. (and it's heavy!!) So i'm reading these stories in much the same way. Captivating.
I do have to say it's hard to read epithets. I rail against them all the time.
Some of these are conversation and several are not. I am hoping that the author used them on purpose to show up society for what it was, but i'm not certain, it was 1920...
