Sigh...I'm just ready to be done with this novel. I really don't see why it needed to be 400+ pages. The introductions to our four main characters was strong. The social commentary on romantic relationships between black men and women is enlightening, but the plot is dragging. Nothing interesting has happened since about page 160. The "girlfriends" dialogue is repetitive, and these women are way too foolish to be 35+

Oh, how this book is speaking to my SOUL. I have noticed several problematic themes, but overall, McMillan told the TRUTH. Her characters reflect mine and many other black women's experiences. So much of what we have been afraid to put into words, McMillan has said for us. The men of the four MCs are so messed up, I mean they are really all pieces of shit. So I am rooting for the women. I hope they end up okay.

I am so excited to finally read this book and let it wash over me.
