Assuming this book is semi-autobiographical, Shapiro is a loser. He's a self-aware loser, though, which makes this book an interesting cultural study on the modern fuckboi. He gets annoying, the writing does not. I've seen lots of comparisons to Tao Lin, but don't let that dissuade you; unlike Lin, Shapiro's writing doesn't overwhelm with self-importance and delusions of grandeur.
