Although nearly 100 years old, this is still very readable and entertaining.

If published today with the high society stigmas sandblasted away, the main character, Newland Archer, would read like a modern emo whiny baby in a social group that would be better served by minding their own business. But then there wouldn't be a story.

The irony at the end of book one is hilariously palpable. Archer, you poor bastard...
