A reference in a footnote to the book 1066 and All That. It's like the Pope making a reference to Monty Python and the Holy Grail!

Dry stuff. Occasionally there's something odd, such as the idea that King Arthur, or a reasonable facsimile thereof, actually existed. Geoffrey of Monmouth apparently didn't make everything up.

Dave Van Es how's the book? Is there any Denmark connection? According to a quick internet search England and Denmark have a long and bloody history fighting many wars against each other from the 9th- 19th c A.D.

Dave Van Es you may want to checkout this website: http://www.battlefieldstrust.com/reso...

The book is a bit dry because he spends a lot of time saying, "In the past, various scholars have chosen seven other sites for this battle. This is why they are wrong and I am right [technical details follow]." but there are occasional humorous bits, both intentional and otherwise...

And yes, there is a Denmark connection. More than one so far.
