Very slow start. If this book hadn't been given to me by a friend straight off her own bookshelf, with proclamations about how it's her favorite book ever, I probably would have given up on it. The beginning is almost all telling, very little showing, which is one of the more common failings of first-person POV. It does pick up about 30-40 pages in as the POV settles down, and so far I'm enjoying it.
