Yeh, the good ole warning that showed up 1 1/2 days after the books disappeared and has been up days since.

Thing is this is the second time. I get that they are trying to "upgrade" the date read to work better (this is my belief), but couldn't they do it on a sample and beta test and revert back and figure out what went wrong.

So, I know that and they had fixed it, and then 2 days later my books disappeared again. This time they've been gone 4-5 days, maybe a week. Since they put the "alert" up I figured I would give it a few days. I have and now I'm complaining. I tried changing the date read of a book to a day forward to see if it would show up. Nope.

I know that you know I use Goodreads everyday; it is my Facebook socially. The list of books read is what I use most often to remind me to review, put in challenges, discussion, BOM reminder, etc... I thought the "new" date read, to include rereads was interesting but created a bunch of duplicates for me. No complaints there. I get duplicates from just accidental saying "want to read" after searching and seeing that it isn't mark as TBR. This is because they don't always "sense" the other version of the book. I don't complain as I could be careful and always go to the book page to add. If I could fix it I would, I understand things not working perfectly.

This, well my read, and read date is probably the most important to me. It is the reason I joined originally, to keep track of books read. Then I discovered people like me reading all these series and forums to head me to other similar reads. I know that they will get the list back in order but it is annoying as my Swiss cheese mind forgot the books I've read already that are not listed. I want help to update my challenges and I've pretty much left them this week, waiting for the answer. I'm getting behind. ;-P

So I have found another way to "see" my books read. Since my "Yearly Challenge" says that I've read 243 books, which is about right including the shorts and novellas, I decided to see what it looks like and

Voilà They are all there and in order no less. I was expecting to have to search through to the end but nope. So I'm back to being able to "see" my books read in a list. And I can figure out where the month starts. So why am I bitching still, I guess it is the week of withdraw. or because when it first happened, I freaked the F out. There was no warning. Then I realized that my books still had the information correct on their pages. Still was a little freaked.

Oh, BTW, I mainly do everything at home, on a desktop Windows computer. I take it you haven't had this disappearing books? I do occasionally add books to my currently reading, read, want to read, on my phone. I also look up books all the time. But very rarely post via phone or tablet. With the amount I write, I need the keyboard.

Also I visit through Firefox.... here let me go to Chrome or I.E. and check there... Nope my November has 5 books listed as read, out of the 18 that I actually have read, in both Chrome and IE. Now, I know that thank to the "yearly challenge" yea!

My mind just cannot remember 13 books not listed, I started a physical list, for challenges purpose and got 7 more, missing 5 from memory. I'm so glad my list are somewhere. I let Library Thing go to the wayside so this is it. I should back up lists every once in a while. but just don't.

OH no I completely understand. I use the full site through my iPad using safari, but when I mark a book to currently reading I do that through the app, and I do page updates and such via the app on my iPhone. It's just quicker and faster. When I do my RTC posts that's me marking the book as read via my phone. And I'll review when I'm on the computer because like you I need a keyboard for that. But when I do my reviews via the app I also check the dates there and they are typically always listed. But I completely understand your frustration, it's why I had notifications turned on, though they kinda suck at that too.
