The romance is super accelerated. It doesn't necessarily bother me but it does make me pause. I've read other short/novella books with that but they make it about the sex and attraction. In this, there is nothing other than they're "mates" so they have to love each other for no reason/explanation. Like when you ask a kid why they love their parent and they say "because it's my mom/dad". Just seems odd to me.
