Laura what made you want to read this?

Bonnie I was browsing the biography aisle at the library and this one caught my eye. You know how our history class in high school went--we got up to WW1 and the year was over. College wasn't much better. There's a significant gap in my knowledge of history about Vietnam and that whole era. So this book is filling in a little of that for me. America changed in the 60s and I want to know more than just hippies and Woodstock. LBJ was a flaming socialist--very similar mindset to Obama, so I thought it would be interesting. As my mom says, I like "boring" books. =o)

Laura I'll recommend it to my pops...he'd like it. I have a larger gap than most...from the car accident, I lost a huge chunk of jr year and up til Thanksgiving of sr, so I really lost a ton of US history, and govt. I never took them at UNLV, soo...maybe I should read it too!

Bonnie If you want an awesome history, read Winds of War by Herman Wouk--it's a fictional family leading up to and during WWII--it's amazing. I learned a ton, but it wasn't boring because I cared about the characters and the story line. I bet my mom would know about other good history books, if you're interested. (And I don't know about recommending the LBJ book yet, I'm only up to the college years, and there's 720 pages to go! =o)
