I know I didn't give it a fair chance, but when even the New York Times says a book has too many characters to keep straight, I knew it wasn't going to be what I was in the mood for at the moment. I sighed and returned it to the library. Not author's fault, it's me. Because I often read in bed in the middle of the night to help me go back to sleep, I needed fewer characters' perspectives to keep track of. Darnit.
