Jonathan wrote: "Fernando del paso - news from the Empire"Already on the shelves! Maybe I should just read that instead of buying a new book. Or both.

WAIT I've never read that
Anybody know how and where to find and make sure I'm getting the unabridged vol. 1 of Plum In The Golden Vase? I'm struggling trying to find it online, and like be sure I'm getting the right one. WHY EVEN MAKE ABRIDGED EDITIONS?!
Abridged editions drive me crazy. I usually search by ISBN, otherwise you never know what you are going to get. I think the David Tod Roy translation for Princeton University Press is unabridged -- I have to dig out my copy to check. If so, ISBN-10: 0691016143ISBN-13: 978-0691016146

NYT article about his edition here: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/11/19/boo...

Nathan wrote: "Genoa: A Telling of Wonders"Hey good call I have all three volumes of the complete Metcalf on the shelves at home! Gotta get on it. Screw buying a book i'ma read the ones I have
It's odd, bc Roy makes a point in his introduction about retaining lots of repetitive phrases that others left out, to be truer to the text.(BTW, if you want to take a look at a PDF version of the book to comb through the introduction, let me know.)
In Watermelon Sugar by Richard Brautigan is a masterpiece you can read in a night. It's hilarious, sad, and surreal.

But I do recall seeing some mislabeling on some listings.
You may want to get Steven Moore's copy of The Combinations. It's what I'll be OverHype'ing in coming days. https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listi...

Oh yeah so ended up buying myself as Christmas presents The Combinations and The Invented Part by Rodrigo Fresan as well as Dara's the Lost Scrapbook. Yay!
Geoff wrote: "Oh yeah so ended up buying myself as Christmas presents The Combinations and The Invented Part by Rodrigo Fresan as well as Dara's the Lost Scrapbook. Yay!"Dude. Lost Scrapbook. And I'm growing increasingly interested in The Invented Part. Well wrought, my goodsir.
Geoff wrote: "Oh MJ's review is the reason I picked up Invented Part"Oh. Right. Good point. Damn books are cheap and easy to have shipped to one's very doorstep....
