finished reading this a few weeks back, and it blew me away. the second book in Macdonald's Lew Archer series is a significant leap in terms of writing IMO. i had previously read RM's first entry in this series, Moving Target, and while it's very good, it's not as amazing as this one. this book, however is excellent, and i highly recommend it. for fans of vintage crime fiction....
