'I mean, you tell me. How exactly do you ask someone you just met about the specifics of their breasts and vagina?'

You don't, Reggie.

I checked the acknowledgements and apparently there was an editor, but you wouldn't know it from reading the book

Well the fact that each chapter is essentially a retelling of one of Yates' documentaries is working in my favour, because now I can finally find out the content of Gay and Under Attack, without watching the documentary

I'm wary that this book is ultimately just going to rehash exactly what happened in every one of Yates' documentaries. While fascinating, I thought this memoir would be more about the stuff not on screen, which so far only the preface has properly touched on.

I do think this book could have benefitted from more editing, as there are quite a few sentences worded in odd ways, and sometimes oddly placed paragraph breaks that interrupt a train of thought...

'Financially and in the eyes of the Almighty, this man was convinced he had no equal. Then I showed up in shorts refusing to pray and calling him mate every two minutes. I could see why I'd pissed him off.' hahahahhaa

I've been really excited to read this one since I preordered it, because I really love Reggie Yates and his documentaries over the past few years. I must say I haven't watched all of them, eg the Extreme one about homophobia because I knew I wouldn't be able to handle it. The preface of this book sets it up nicely with an informal and readable voice, even if the structure is a little disjointed and jarring.
