In the book it was scary because Donovan said what was ayna thinking about and what she said was scary. It was scary because Donavan was asking nicely what she was thinking about and she said" I'm thinking about how many more will have to die(125). This is quote shows how she randomly said that more people will die.

It is sad that max could of escaped out of where they were with his friend. It was sad because he had a chance to escape but didn't because she was to scared. Max said "ill regret until I die". This quote shows that he had a chance to escape but he blew it and now he cant escape anymore.

It was weird when Donovan saw Ayna standing still and not moving. Donovan raised his hand and then he saw Ayna just standing there and then started screaming at her. In text it said " but she was standing still in the maelstrom". This shows how Ayna was just standing there and not doing anything.

It is scary that if Ayna grabs attention she would be hit with a flying stone. Ayna was shouting at Donovan that he isn't able to hurt the prisoner. But Ayna shouted that and Donovan said "worried for insensible reason that by calling attention to herself, the girl might get hit by one of the flying" stone (70). this shows that its scary because just because she grabs attention she could get badly hurt.

Its was sad when Donavan was crying. Donovan was crying because the was scared that he was gonna die he told his that if he was going to die but he dad said he wasn't because his dad said " I've sacrificed too much for you to die. This quote shows hat his dad loves him and wants Donovan to think positive and not negative.

It is nice that Donovan is protecting his friends. Some soilders arrived where Donovan and his friends were. and the soilders knew where they were. Donovan said that he is going to get the out of where they were without someone dead. Ayna thought that when Donovan was going to turn them but Donovan said "I don't want anyone getting killed. This shows that he cares for his friend and is trying to keep them safe.

One funny part is when Kevin told Ayna not to chicken out. Kevin told Ayna if she got what it takes. Kevin said " no chickening out this time, Ayna. This shows that Kevin thought that Ayna was scared and that she was going to chicken out again

One part that was funny is when Donovan tried not to act afraid but he was actually afraid. For example he was acting like he wasn't afraid by telling his friend to let him go. In the text it says Donovan tried to make his voice come out confident and not afraid. It sounded rough and too fast. This quote shows that he didn't want to act like a scary cat in front of his friend.

It is funny that Donavon is trying to act cool in front of a girl he likes but he keeps getting mad at partner. Donavan ignored his partner. Also Donavan said to his friend " stop that. You look like a moron" (8). This quote show that Donavan was mad at him and was trying to look cool
