hmm....I kind of feel like this whole middle section was...a paradigm shift, somehow? I guess thinking back, they DID introduce Laurie with the whole..."he's got that nebulous edge of danger thing," but I...kind of don't feel like it was that for most of it? He kind of was more...cold than wild?

everything Jasper says and this scene says is true. there are times when I'm like academia is fucking cool, there's all this like...like with the humanities and hyperfocus on a specific thing that interests a person deeply and they care so much and it's so cool that they care so much

and then there's times when I'm like "academia as a concept pisses me tf off, what is this contrived fake BS lmao it ain't that deep"
