I wish there were more literature from the Zuñi and other tribes' perspectives of early white settlers/explorers. As such, Cushing was more open to recording the native's points of view. For example, there are far more records of white criticism of Indian dress than vice versa, but Cushing tells it exactly the way the Zuñi governor tells it, and from now on I'll be referring to my boots as "squeaking foot packs."

Gah. The subject and what he has to work with is amazing. If only he was as good a writer as he was a sketch artist!
