In the second half, we begin to see that the sexual and spiritual are two branches on the same tree. In his brilliant study of romantic love, Robert Johnson lays bare the roots of this tree. Just as it is in the economic self-interest of the old to invest in the young, so it is in the spiritual self-interest of the young to invest in the old. All of us require some material goods in order to stay alive. The question is ; how much ?. The Weight of your pack is the weight of your karma ( what you must pay as a consequence of living the way you do ). Do you really want to carry that much ?
Since the more we have, the more we have to carry, entering the second half often requires lightening our load - not just physically but psychologically.
