Obvious foreshadowing. Both the reporter and police inspector were investigating the same burglaries? I already see signs of too much luck involved in solving this case.

I like the contrast in these two men. The bachelor reporter from upperclass Bombay and the stable, happily married policeman who considered himself a true 'son of the soil' because he was Marathi and one of the common masses.

I just got this one on netgalley. I don't know why I'm so damned excited. Maybe because the setting is Indian. Yeah, that might be it. Also because the last time I read a book with a similar premise it was the Inspector Ghote series by H.R.F. Keating in the 60s. And Man were they good! I even loved the movie they made out of the first book 'The Perfect Murder'. Anyway, looking forward to reading this.
