How is this?

Heart warming and really interesting and fill in the blanks about Sistina the main character in the previous books.

What about the series as a whole?

As a whole the series is slow at first in the book and boom it pick up when the female lead meet the love interest and it goes gurren lagann in the second book and the war really pick up.

Nice! Speaking of which, I need to finish gurren lagann. I got like 6 more episodes to go.
