Y'know, i often hear "Astro City" described as a "deconstruction" of the comic book genre, but I think that's a total misreading. It matches and exceeds the earnestness of the best classic comics without any of the smug cynicism so necessary to deconstructions -- "Astro City" is, in fact, a RE-construction.
