I had just finished a series and was piling up a dozen books to pick from which one I'd read next. To do so I always read the first few pages and see how it responds to me and how well it goes with my current state of mind.

"The Room on Rue Amelie" had been sitting in my 'to read' pile for a week. I didn't know what to expect but already 4 pages in I'm moved to tears. Splendid writing, absolutely engrossing.
