After all this exhilaration, I'm finding the denouement to be a bit of a slog. Too much military info.

Nearing the finish line. I am dying to see how he's going to wrap up all this insanity!

Not a single word that I've looked up has been in my dictionary. Either my dictionary sucks or Pynchon is making shit up - or both...

Eddie Watkins Hope that's a good thing, I know it is for me. Having a good strange dream gives me more a sense of accomplishment and meaning than going to work for a year. Also, unlike so many others I enjoy hearing others' dreams.

Kimley Oh yeah, it's definitely a good thing! Though I'm bad about remembering my dreams. I don't write them down. They are very of-the-moment for me. I remember more the feeling or gist but not the bizarro specifics. I know there was a victorian airship in a dream I had the other night!

I usually read right before I go to sleep and this book especially has been hard to put down so I keep reading it while in that semi-conscious state before actual sleep. Then I usually have to reread it the next day... which I don't mind at all.

Eddie Watkins Sometimes when I read before I fall asleep in my first vivid dream flashes I'm still holding the book and still reading but the content is all bizarro.

I'm really glad you seem to be enjoying this book so much. Now I want to read it again!

Kimley That's very Nervalian (Nervalesque?).

This book pretty much demands to be read more than once. There's so much here to digest. It's like eating a really good piece of pie - the first bite/reading, you just say "yummy"! The second bite/reading, you think "oh, the crust is so buttery and rich". And on the third bite/reading, you start wondering about all the individual ingredients.

Damn, now I want some pie!

Eddie Watkins I prefer Nervalian, it's more liquid and dreamy. Nervalesque is too carnivalesque.

As soon as I finished this I actually started it again immediately, but my stamina ran out pretty quickly.

I think I made 5 or 6 apple pies this fall. Yum!
