In that moment, as Jack struggled to lift the weight that was pinning him down, he knew. He knew there would be no escaping this, no getting back up from it. And so, like the weary antelope that bares its throat to the lion, Jack closed his eyes and let the numbing cloak of darkness devour him. PROLOGUE :'( OMG this book will ruin me! :'(

I've first read this book in 2018 and since then I couldn't moved on from this heartbreakingly beautiful story.I've recommended it maybe at least 100 people or maybe over so And one of my loveliest friend currently listening the audiobook, which I've recommend it to her "shocker* and I thought it's time for me to join her.

“Shhh. I’ve got you.” He dropped kisses on my forehead, my nose, the corner of my mouth. He stayed inside me, not moving, until my body adjusted to him and the pain subsided. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he started to rock gently inside me. "You feel like heaven.” He laced his fingers through mine, as if to anchor himself. THIS BOOK! <3

I kissed him then, suddenly and without warning, standing on my tiptoes to reach him. “What was that for?” His mouth quirked higher.
I wanted to know what your lips taste like after a smile. I shook my head and grinned like I was holding a big secret.

When Jack helped me up, I avoided his gaze. When he wiped the mud away from my face, I kept my eyes on the ground. When he sat me down and poured water over my palms, I watched the dirt wash away.
“Rodel.”
Damn him. Damn his voice. Damn the way he said my name.

No matter how many reasons I gave myself not to, I was falling for Jack Warden, more and more, with each passing day. ❤

Sometimes we need to be jarred out of our own reality. We base so much of ourselves on other people’s perceptions of us. We live for the compliments, the approval, the applause. But what we really need is a grand, spine-chilling encounter with ourselves to believe we’re freaking magical. And that’s the best kind of believing, because no one can unsay it or take it away from you. THIS BOOK! Jack ❤

“Where did she get this?” he asked.
“Not again, Jack.” Goma walked up to the porch. “I found it in your car.”
“Lily was wearing it. She left it in the car when we went into the mall.”
“It’s just a hat, Jack. There’s no part of Lily in it. She’s here—” Goma touched his heart “—where she’ll always be. "It’s not just a hat. Not to me!"😢

When you lose someone you love, it doesn’t end with that event, or with their funeral, or with their name on the tombstone. You lose them again and again, every day, in small moments that catch you off guard. 😢😢😢
