When Lena and Alex go to the beach I can imagine the sound of the waves and smell of the salt water because of how well Lauren Oliver writes the scene. She tells of what washes up on the beach and what the sea is taking with it. Lena talks of her times going to the beach with her mom and it reminds me of family trips to the beach.

SPOILERS In my book, Alex has told Lena that her mother might be alive. This is important because Lena thought that her mother was dead. If her mom is dead or alive could affect the decision she has to make to stay or run away with Alex. I wonder what she would do or if she would try to run away and take her mother with her and Alex. Maybe her father is alive as well. Who knows?

Spoilers*In my book right now Lena has fallen in love with Alex. She has to meet her pair Brian S. During dinner with Brian she gets up to get her pair and his mother. When she comes back in she hears Brian say that he thought she would be prettier. Lena tries to be mature and excuses herself from the dinner table. When she goes outside she realizes to herself that it's not because he's ugly it's because hes not Alex

My book is very dramatic right now since it is a raid night. A raid night is when the government sends troops out to raid peoples homes randomly making sure no one is breaking the rules. Lena just got caught in the middle of a raid trying to inform her friend it's a raid night. I wonder what will happen next and if Lena will escaoe or not.

During this whole book, I can imagine light/soft music playing in the background then when something dramatic happens the music speeds up and gets louder. Then stops. This book is full of imagery and emotion I wonder what the story would be like if another author wrote it.

I think my favorite part of the book so far has been Lena and Alex going to the beach because of how deep it was and all of the imaginary. Even though the beach scene was a while ago I liked how connected the reader felt with Lena when she was telling Alex about her parents. It felt like she wasn't just explaining to Alex but the reader and her were connecting.

A relationship in my book that is really important is Hana's and Lena's. They have been friends since sixth grade and they just graduated high school.Lena was surprised in 6th grade when Hana wanted to be her friend and when Hana never made any other close friends. If it wasn't for Hana Lena wouldn't have ever verbally met Alex on the run or seen him again at the concert.Hana makes Lena live on the wild side of life.

*Spoilers* Lena wants to be cured because of the experiences she has had because of emotions. Lena also remembers what happened to her mom and dad; both being sympathizers. People talked down and attacked her parents so they died for each other. So she longs to get cured and be assigned a husband and a high paying career.

Lena is motivated to get cured because of the stories she has heard about what happens if you don't get the cure and fall in love. If someone feels emotion towards someone they are known as a sympathizer. The sympathizer's family is taunted by the neighbors and are fired from their occupation.
