The first two thirds of this book would apeal to archaeologists more than to me but it did set out a good deal of the religious history of India.
I enjoyed the section on painting much more, I was struck by how in their development they seemed to precede European modern art by 150 years!
I now am interested in exploring Indian painting (and photography) further.
