My memories of reading this one for the first time are foggy. It was assigned reading for a class on Children's Literature and all I remember is finding this slim volume engaging and enjoyable.

The book's chapters read as separate short stories that build upon one another and the first three are equally fantastic. Cumyn captures what childhood really is like.
