Eight: Birthday. Chapter Nineteen.
One of the more bizarre passages of this book. The phenomenon of giving birth has become this weird object of religious fanaticism.

Seven: Night. Chapter Eighteen.
This is all kinds of terrible. But the one biggest surprise was that after being sexually assaulted and violated, she was considering being with someone. Since it’s written by a woman, I trust that there’s just more to that psychology than I understand.

Six: Household. Chapter Fourteen.
The protagonist makes a friend, gets ready to sleep with her mate, and remembers trying to flee the country when things started to get bad. Also, there is a war going on between different religious groups, it seems. That was new.
