If it's not worth doing, be sure not to do it. Resources devoted to one activity are taken away from another activity. Everything spent on something not worth doing could be spent on something useful. Things not worth doing take on a life of their own. After a while, people will say “we ought not to let this die.” But the activity should never have begun in the first place.
