This series of books are not just a good read that will sometimes make you cry, they are also a great source for anyone who wants to travel and sightsee. The towns and places he mentions are real and can be easily Googled and will make you remember why ya gotta love America.

Alan is walking in my neck of the woods now and I just learned that the home of the inventor of SLICED BREAD is a mere 6 hour drive almost straight up from where I'm sitting!!! Not far from there is the house where Jesse James was killed and a creepy Psychiatric museum!! I have GOT to talk my mom into a road trip.
