in chapter 3 Hannah and her uncle have quality bonding time and she soon realizes he's nothing like his wife and daughter, he's actually quite the nerd. they sit and have breakfast and discuss books and what New Guinea is like compared to southern California. after bonding with her uncle her aunt then comes in to interrupt to tell Hannah that she wont be able to take Hannah shopping which Hannah is relieved by.

In chapter 6 Hannah is put in a new difficult situation that finally sends her to a breaking point. She had planned on spending her Saturday in the house until her aunt and Vanessa insisted that she spend time with Vanessa and attend a party. When she gets dressed she immediately let down when her cousin asks if shes preparing for Halloween because of her outfit.

In chapter 5 Vanessa and her mom were not too happy with Hannah's choice of clothing because they weren't as nice as theirs. They called the things she bought cheap knock offs and not worth her money even though she got so much for such a little price. She began to feel as if they were degrading her and feeling ashamed that she had picked out things they thought were so ugly but she felt as if they were cute.

In chapter 4 Vanessa's mom forced Vanessa to go shopping with Hannah to help her pick out nice things. The store they were going in wasn't a store Vanessa wanted to be caught in due to how cheap and knock the things were but it was good enough for Hannah and the amount of money she had. As soon as they arrive Vanessa spots old friends and immediately leaves and hides leaving Hannah to find clothes for herself.

In chapter 2 Hannah and Vanessa return from their day of shopping and Hannah soon realize that her cousin isn't a very selfish individual and was willing to buy her anything she asked for. But because of who Hannah was she wouldn't allow it because she wanted her own money which is why her uncle asks her to work for him at his office as a phone person. She was happy on the opportunity, while they feared appearance.

Hannah is a missionary kid from PNG thats spending the summer with her family in Southern California. Hannah is basically telling how she feels out of place living with her family. I thought it was kind of funny to hear her thinking all these normal things were not normal. her being a mission kid has caused her to be sheltered and i think the theme do the chapter is innocence.
