Another tale in which the innocent main character is continually shat upon by her brutal husband...but this time there's an evil butler instead of an evil housekeeper. DR definitely has a pattern to her storytelling.

An unexpectedly Not Dead character has returned to take vengeance on the vile St Cheviot! But will he save Fleur's gentle lover in time? *dramatic piano chords*

I've officially passed the halfway point. Woot!

'She was beyond answering, almost beyond caring in the extremity of her anguish. But the last sound that she heard before she temporarily lost her senses was the surge of the sea & a rising wind. [...] Fleur wondered wildly if her mother's ghost would not arise from her watery grave to seek out & protect the daughter who had been so hideously betrayed.'

Not a promising forecast for Fauna's daughter: 'They were words spoken from the heart, but in blissful ignorance. For soon neither her mother's devotion - nor her father's strength - could protect Fleur from the doom that awaited her.'

Moving on to Part 2...tomorrow. Why do I feel so dumb & tired? *ponders the mystery* Ah, perhaps this is my body telling me I should go to bed. Go figure. :P
