Picking this book up again! Definitely plunges you into a different era. I love his descriptions of nature.

So far it does a beautifully vivid job of capturing the allure of the woods, the insecurity of being a slow bloomer, and the chaos of the classroom. Definitely a bit dated though - there are some strongly colonialist (racist) messages being taught in this pre-WWI school!
