I am largely skim reading this book for my dissertation - I have read several excerpts from it for various reasons across my degree, and so am (re)reading the whole thing to try and get a bigger bibliography. Generally speaking though, it’s a very good read and a comprehensive overview of Spartan history, although some of the more general comments are outdated, as it was written 50 years ago.
