pretty much she told people dumbledore's gay but she won't be showing it in the upcoming fantastic beasts trailer. she says certain characters are lgbtq+/poc/etc. years later and has never showed it in the books. recently she liked a tweet calling trans women "men in dresses" so on and so forth

(she also didn't speak up about johnny depp still being in the cast of fantastic beasts and there were also some things about cultural appropriation concerning ilvermorny and native americans)

yess thank you for this! i completely forgot to mention
Don't forget her mockery of North American indigenous peoples when describing Illvermorny. Also her dismissal of the accusations of abuse against Johnny Depp when discussing his casting as Grindelwald. She is the definition of problematic white woman.

Lmao count me in. I'm aware of all her previous statements, but trans women "men in dresses"? I'm disgusted. Can't believe this.
Not agreeing with Ms. Rowling but I feel like a lot of people her age are a bit racist/phobic in general. It seems to show itself more the older some of them get. :( It would have been cool if she were different though.
Ooooh yikes. Just. Yikes. I don't even know what to say besides that. I heard about the Dumbledore thing but not the full story and now that I know that + the rest of what you said she's cancelled
Wow, I never knew she could be like this. "men in dresses?" um that's extremely rude. And since I am native american her comments hurt even more.
Sarah wrote: "Lmao count me in. I'm aware of all her previous statements, but trans women "men in dresses"? I'm disgusted. Can't believe this."i knoww and she said it was an accident, liking the tweet, but I really don't trust her

Oh my gosh, are we thinking the same thing? It's like I had a twin thinking the same thing at the same time. I was so disgusted when her tweets came out. I get that she's a pretty good author, but she's not too great as a person and she has no diverse representation in her books besides her "token" characters

*rolls eyes* thanks for the info!
She’s been on my problematic authors list for so long now, and it makes me so sad, bc the Harry Potter series is pretty much my childhood & it’s hard for me to separate authors from their works. :(
It’s so disappointing because she just seems to get more and more problematic and Harry Potter is so special to me :((
