I'm still waiting for the supernatural ghost-but-also-bird-man thing to make sense. A rift in space/time? Fine. People there to stop weird things falling out of it? Yup, still with you. Annoying ghost man, several heads, bird... Nope. I feel like there's a chunk of description missing somewhere. I could see this concept as a TV show, but as a book it's not helping me understand what these paranormal nasties are.

I was just getting into it but then weird supernatural stuff starts happening again and I have no idea what it actually is. Bird man, ghosty headless man as another POV, they do something... then murder someone using someone else's hand? Nope. You lost me.

A few chapters in and... OK, what's happening? Earl's chapters are so confusing I haven't a clue, what with the action is jumping from one thing to another. A "rift", a dinosaur, a mailman..? Then there's Daelin who doesn't seem to do much. Please, what's going on?
