Imagine if you will "Huckleberry Finn" as envisioned by Charles Dickens instead of Samuel Langhorne Clemons in a 21st century narrative with a 19th century attitude.

Also:
I doubt I'll ever enjoy a Stephen Foster song again in this world.

page 177: "He stood there in his poor railroad cap and haversack and shoddy coat, a wily scrapper of a kid carrying a world of conflict on his back in that journey to manhood. The runny grey air was closing over the loading platform and the lights of the town across the river like mournful, solitary eyes. pages 176-177:
"Charlie put out a hand to shake and Missus Wattters took it affectionately. 'Ma'am, I want to thank you for everything you've done for me.'
She smiled and nodded. He did not want to let go of her hand suddenly. He knew he would miss this woman so. She had appeared out of the devastation that was his like some unfathomable force of kindness. Asking nothing, giving all."
Beautiful and exciting.

This is exciting stuff.
Starts off as a tale of father and son con artists of the 19th century fleecing notables out of money to help arm a non-existent group of abolitionists seeking to free slaves back in "Bleeding Kansas" and points south.

I've loved every book I've ever read by Boston Teran.
This is soon to be another love affair.
