Another prisoner had complained about Ted moving around in the crawl space AND the jailers Inge that the light fixture wasn't very secure and a welder had been called.
Nothing was done and Bundy escaped.
It blows my mind how little mistakes like that led to the sorority murders.

After escaping from the courthouse where he was being charged for the murder of a nurse and the kidnapping of a teenager, Bundy spent 6 days running from the cops. When he was finally caught they asked him why he escaped and he replied "I didn't want to go back to jail. It was just too pretty outside." He complained of having only slept 10hrs since the escape and that a helicopter woke him once.
