Jessica Cox So Artemis aspires to Harry Potter, or stands alone as a solid read?

Oh, Artemis is no Harry Potter. *laugh* He is definitely amazing in his own right. Colfer is a pretty brilliant author; I've enjoyed several of his other books as well.

If was picking a literary character Artemis is reminiscent of I might be more likely to say Sherlock Holmes - or possibly James Moriarty, depending. Of course, I like complex morality in my fiction, so that's another point in his favour as far as I'm concerned.

There's a fairly small cast of characters, really, but the narrative ensures that we get to know them all pretty well, and they're all strong enough characters to stand up and take a turn at being the centre of our focus, which is rare.

Must qualify all of the above by saying I've not read any further in the Artemis Fowl series than book four yet, though.

Jessica Cox Wow! Interesting. Mystical Sherlock does sound like fun.

Small cast suits me. Less to keep track of in a busy reading schedule.

Let me know how it progresses!
