I think that the racism has started to play a huge role in this book. It effects him in different way everyday: treatment, judgment, food supply and medical treatment.

I am very happy that zeitoun was released, I was worried he would never get out of the situation.

I made me very sad that the soldiers that were at the military/police base would not help the old couple that was stuck in a house. The fact that they said "'Not our Problem'"(Eggers 134) was shocking because you would think that a military officer would help if help was needed. It was disappointing especially because it is a true story.

I love how he made the choice to stay because he wants to help people. It's very inspiring and takes a rage amount of courage to do.

I think the stories about how "the kids used to pull off our hijabs and run" was very devastating because of how insensitive those kids are.
