Ha! It didn’t occur to me that Brent had named his ship after his sister. The boat is Jenni-Lyn; he has a sister named Jennifer.

Kendall sort of annoys me. I know Brent is being a bit high-handed, but she seems to not care about the danger she is putting herself (let alone her friends and companions) in.

And to negotiate w/the whites, a number of the Mikasuki & Seminole adopted their own surnames, often from the animals of the forest....Now, like the whites, the Indians are beginning to take their fathers’ surnames but it’s really a matriarchal society.

Seminole = “running free” (not “runaway” like settlers claimed)

And would that have been a credible name for that time period?
