Hi goodreads crew - who's writing the big, satirical, comedic, melancholic, death-driven, humane tomes about living in the age of Trump? I'll have a little unbroken time to read again soon and would like some recommendations, thanks.

"Political thriller/sci-fi" immediately sounds alarms for me - unsure - but I do appreciate the rec

Geoff Like, what is the Trumpocene's The Public Burning?

message 5: by Richard (new)

Richard Derus Not quite as serious. More like the Trumpocene's Dr. Strangelove, or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb.

Sounds promising

Ian Scuffling Looks interesting, Richard, thanks!

Richard Derus I really enjoyed it. Biting sarcasm appeals to me, especially now.

Geoff But maybe the fiction of an age only comes after the age - because it takes so long to process and write good books. I'm just afraid there isn't going to be an "after."

I really found it entertaining and thought provoking, and that isn't the commonest thing for me to feel.

It is never guaranteed, of course, but this time...well....

Thanks! LeClaire is great - also affirms my suspicion that fiction is generally predictive or reflective, but it is more rare for it to be completely of its time. Especially when the time is as out of joint as it now is. Lesson - don't go looking for the new The Public Burning or JR - we already have them.
