This intro has already done wonders for explaining the way the senate worked in Cicero's time. I admire its clarity, and wish someone had explained this stuff sooner.

Cicero!....is it true that was pronounced "Kickero" probably? Because that's....so weird.

C is always a hard K sound, I is always the long EE sound (or like the Spanish version of I), and...okay, I forget if the last O in that name is long or short, but the long and short O in Latin sound almost identical to me anyway. (My Latin prof would say, "They're like the two different O sounds in Apollo!" Which also sound the same to me. So yeah.)
