That was wrt to gold and he was unable because it was far too elaborate. Hydrogen, however was far easier and found 18 minor atoms in a hydrogen atom.
Then later-
Upon occult viewing, "oxygen was found to consist of 290 minor atoms and nitrogen of 261."
All in the first two pages! Wheeee!
