This one is taking me FOREVER to get through. Don't know exactly why. I get into it for a week or so, then put it down for several days and find it hard to pick up again. Currently I find myself in one of these lulls.

I always found this book really hard to get into. I don't think I ever really developed a good bond with any of the characters.

I absolutely loved the first volume of this book. I especially loved the characters and how well Dickens brought them to life. For some reason I sat the book down for a couple of months. I have to admit the second volume has been much less enjoyable for me. Pip seems to be floating about in London without much going on. He has become (for obvious reasons) a less sympathetic protagonist and the characters--aside from Estella and Jaggers, who we see too little of--don't grab me the same way Joe and the others in volume 1 did. Well, I'm into volume 3 and hoping Dickens can pull it all together for me!
