The narrator of this audio book is really good, despite the obnoxious main character. Good editing and subtle audio effects are used as well.

Faulk is an obnoxiously radical atheist.

Met people from mysterious culture with obvious supernatural powers that they say the get from gods. Immediate reaction: gods aren't real and you're idiots for believing in them.

I dunno, given that these people can literally fly and are offering to take you to meet their gods face to face, perhaps wait for that meeting before delivering a smug atheism sermon?
