Dr. Kelly M. Greenhill in the first chapter demonstrates why the open/closed border debates are too simplistic. It was surprising to see how many states are successful using coercive mass migration as a form of bribery. Migrants are pawns used by their native government in a political game. The first chapter is an eye-opening and disheartening read.
