How many times does the name "Portsmouth" have to be in this book? At one point I counted it used 4 times in one small paragraph... and then another 3 in the next! Not mention every other paragraph afterwards. Using his name John Charles might've been a good idea. This book needed a good edit!

Interesting read so far. Though I'm aware there was a lack of understanding about mental illness in the time this biography is set (1700-1800s), the constant use of the word lunatic by the author to describe those with mental illness is really grating my nerves. Just because this term was used then, doesn't mean she has to use it in her own descriptions.
