I leave for 10 days in Maine this Tuesday. I've been on a Lew Archer binge but have to take off until I return home. So today I read 4 stories from this.
I read "A Question Of Ethics" by James Holding (terrific play on classic hitman tales); "The Empty Room" by Donald Honig (very funny domestic murder story); "Watchdogs Of Molicotl" by Richard Curtis (so-so); & the very funny "I'll Go With You" by Hal Dresner.

by the way, the title of the Helen Nielsen story I referred to earlier is "The Affair Upstairs"

Still skipping about in this Hitchcock anthology and just finished a neat little tale of a busybody apartment manager who eventually gets her due comeuppance by one of masters of suspense/thrillers - Helen Nielsen.

I'm between novels at the moment. Can't finish the last 3 stories in Fitzgerald's THE PAT HOBBY STORIES until my wife decides to read them along with me. She made me promise.

Just finished an excellent if wicked little tale of the perfect assassin by a favorite noirist -Robert Edmund Alter, author of two of my favorites noir-thrillers, "SWAMP SISTER" and "CARNY KILL".

Alter was a frequent contributor to Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine.

Waiting for the arrival of the FAR EMPTY by J. Todd Scott - expected in today's mail, I 1st read a "Jules De Grandin" tale last night "The Horror On The Links" by Seabury Quinn. Then today while driving my wife to various rural Connecticut thrift shop stores for picture frames needed for an upcoming gallery show of her art, I found this and read the 1st story in the anthology by Fletcher Flora, "Tune Me In". WOW!
