Starts out great, gets infuriating. The author claims to be factual in approach but it is really statistical (facts on the surface with assumptions under-girding). His worldview, which is steeped in assumption, shows very clearly. With this warning, I still highly recommend this book. The fact really is that in many meaningful ways the world is steadily improving and you won't find that information in the news cycle.
