I may never get through this book. Writing is clever in some parts and in other parts he gets tied up in metaphorical knots (i.e., sounds of nature).

So far, Thoreau is brilliant. He’s at Walden Pond in New England discussing the problems of materialistic society.
His protests includes “I say, beware of all enterprises that require new clothes, and not rather a new wearer of clothes”.
That gave me pause.
